Sunil reported suppliers showing as multiple records due to name variations in the accounting system. Bethan identified that the connector pulls names exactly as they appear in the source and provided a deduplication filter to consolidate by supplier ID.

Problem: Suppliers with trading names and legal entity names were creating duplicate records, breaking spend reporting accuracy. Handling: Bethan diagnosed that the connector pulls names exactly as they appear in the accounting system, so variations show as separate records. She provided steps to set up a deduplication filter in Snowflake matching on supplier ID instead of name.

Some of our suppliers are showing as multiple records in the brain because the accounting system has them under different name variations. The full legal name sometimes, the trading name other times. The connector is creating separate records for what should be one company. I need these deduplicated so our spend reporting is accurate.

Hi Sunil, I've picked this up. Just so I've got this right: you're seeing multiple records in the brain for the same supplier, where your accounting system has different name variations? Can you tell me a couple of examples so I can see the pattern? Thanks, Bethan

That's right. Suppliers in the accounting system have both trading names and legal entity names, sometimes both used on different invoices. The brain treats them as separate records instead of one company. I've sent you the specific examples.

I can see the issue now. The connector is pulling names exactly as they appear in your accounting system, so the variations show up as separate records. We can set up a deduplication filter in your Snowflake to consolidate on supplier ID instead of name matching. I'll send you the steps to apply it. Thanks, Bethan
