Lee Garside needed to build a dashboard filtering orders by contract renewal date for forecasting. Bethan Lister walked him through step-by-step, including filtering on renewal_actual to exclude already-renewed contracts. Solved by 14 May 2026.

Problem: Lee Garside needed to build a dashboard showing orders due for contract renewal in the next quarter. He had the data but was stuck on the filtering approach, and needed it ready for a customer meeting.

Handling: Bethan Lister provided step-by-step guidance. When Lee reported old contracts weren't filtering out correctly, Bethan suggested using the renewal_actual field instead of scheduled date. Lee confirmed the solution worked by 14 May 2026, one day after creation.

Watch: This is strong engagement with the dashboard builder for business-critical workflows. Consider offering a renewal forecasting template to accelerate similar use cases for other teams.

I'm trying to build a view that shows me orders coming up for contract renewal in the next quarter. I've got the contract renewal data in the brain, but I'm stuck on how to filter the orders by renewal date. Can you walk me through the steps?

Good question. Here's the approach: in the dashboard builder, add a filter on the renewal date field, set it to greater than today and less than three months out. That'll show you orders due for renewal in the next quarter. Give that a try and let me know if you need any more detail on the steps.

Tried that and it's working, but I'm getting some old contracts that should have already renewed. Should I be filtering on actual renewal date or something else?

Good catch. Check if those contracts have a renewal_actual date field populated. If they do, filter on that instead of the scheduled date. That'll exclude any that have already renewed. Try that and see if it cleans up your list.

Perfect. That's exactly what I needed. View's looking good now. Thanks for the help.
