Current to 13 Oct 26Ian Prendergast said the renewal figure will not be approved while the platform programme runs. By 17 Aug 2026 he relayed that the CIO suggests letting the contract lapse on 1 Dec 2026. Ian has not agreed that.
Ask: Ian wants the cost of keeping the current subscription against a smaller shape, in pounds with the base stated. He also wants to know what happens to the data and configuration in the customer's Snowflake account if the contract lapses.
Customer view: the platform programme takes priority over spend on individual tools, and lapse is now the working assumption. Simon Achterberg owns the programme and did not write in the thread.
Next: Sophie Ling put smaller options in writing and asked for thirty minutes. Ian declined a call until he has read the paper.

- Ian Prendergast 11 Aug 2026 11:18Sophie, I am writing ahead of any renewal conversation so that nobody is surprised by it. The contract runs to 1 Dec 2026, at £41,800 a year for 40 users. Since the order form was signed, the platform programme has started and it now takes priority over spend on individual tools. The figure you have indicated for the renewal will not be approved while that programme runs. I would rather say so now than let it sit unanswered. On usage, what I see suggests we are using a fraction of the seats we pay for. I cannot take a percentage uplift to the board without the base and the value behind it. Please show me the uplift in pounds, and what we would get for it that we do not have today. We'll take a view at renewal. Simon is copied as he has the programme. - Sophie Ling 14 Aug 2026 10:20Hi Ian, hi Simon, Thank you for being so direct, it helps. I would much rather hear it three and a half months before the end of the term than in the last week. A few things from my side. The price in pounds is fair to ask for and I will set it out plainly, with the current contract at £41,800 alongside it, so you can see the difference and not just a percentage. I will also ask Amara to pull the usage for the seats you hold, so we are both looking at the same picture and not my memory of it. Second, I would like to put a couple of options in writing, including a smaller shape for the subscription that matches how many people actually use the brain. Nothing is agreed until it is in an order form, but I would rather you had choices than a single number. Could we find thirty minutes next week, the three of us? Simon, I appreciate the programme comes first, so I will fit around your diary. - Ian Prendergast 17 Aug 2026 13:33Sophie, Thank you. I have spoken to Simon and I will relay his view as he put it to me. His suggestion is that the cleanest course is to let the contract lapse at term end on 1 Dec 2026, and to revisit once the programme has decided where the company's data platform sits. I have not agreed that, and I will not sign anything on that basis yet. But you should know it is the working assumption, so that the options you send are written with it in mind. Two things I would like in the paper. First, the cost of keeping what we have against the cost of the smaller shape, in pounds, with the base stated. Second, what happens to the data and the configuration inside our Snowflake account if the contract does lapse, and how long that takes to wind down. I would rather not have a call until I have read it. Ian Prendergast
