What this says
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026Renewal call on 9 Jun 2026. Kadewerk was told Starter moves from £20k to £22k. The CFO called it a jump and asked for movement on price. Usage is only three or four active users against 15 licensed.
What happened: Lewis Kerr set out the Starter renewal at £22k, up from the current £20k, and asked for the signed order form back ahead of the new term. Maarten Bosman and Wouter Brouwer said they would review the terms and take them through finance.
Customer view: Maarten called the rise a jump and asked what was driving it. Wouter said the brain saves the customer success team a day or two a week, so the value is felt by a small group.
Commercial: Maarten asked for movement on price. Lewis said discounts apply to the first term only, up to 20 per cent, and that he would check and come back. The 12.8% rise is the v1 to v2 step for Starter.
Watch: Marcus Bell put active use at three or four users against 15 licensed. A price rise on thin adoption invites a value challenge, and the evidence does not show whether a discount was offered.

Risks

- Only three or four active users against 15 licensed weakens the value case at renewal.
- The order form must be signed before the new term starts and the customer is reviewing terms through finance.
Opportunities
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- The customer success team saves a day or two a week, which gives a concrete value story to build on.
- Ops users look at the brain occasionally, so wider adoption within Starter is possible.
Transcript
- Marcus BellHi Maarten, Wouter, great to see you both. Thanks for making time. I'm Marcus, customer success here at BG-Demo, and Lewis is our account executive. Shall we run through where we are with the renewal?
- Maarten BosmanYeah, absolutely. Good to speak with you both. Wouter and I wanted to have a chat about the renewal before we sign anything off.
- Lewis KerrMakes sense. So your contract runs to 21 July, and we're looking at renewing the Starter tier, the 15 licensed users, co-termed to 22 July next year. To put a number on it, we'd be at £22,000 for the first term.
- Wouter BrouwerRight. And that's an increase from what we paid last year?
- Lewis KerrIt is. Your current contract is at £19,500. We updated our pricing in December for new business, and those changes come through at renewal. So we'd be moving you to £22,000 from 22 July.
- Maarten BosmanThat's a jump. What's driving that?
- Lewis KerrIt's our v2 pricing, came in at the start of the year. The growth on Starter is just under 13 per cent. We've made some improvements to the platform, added features into the tier, and the service levels haven't changed. You're on four connectors, you've got chat and search, pages, everything you had before.
- Wouter BrouwerI see. And if we renew now, what's the timeline there?
- Marcus BellGood question. We'd need the order form signed by 2 July to keep everything flowing smoothly. That gives us a couple of weeks to sort anything out, and then you're live on the new term on the 22nd.
- Maarten BosmanSo 2 July is a hard deadline.
- Lewis KerrTo avoid any service interruption, yes. We'd send the order form over tomorrow, and we're happy to walk through any questions you have.
- Wouter BrouwerHow have things been going on your side? Any issues we should know about?
- Marcus BellNo, it's been smooth. We've got zero high-priority tickets, invoices are paid on time. I'll be honest though: looking at your usage, we're seeing about three or four active users over the last month, which is a fair bit below the 15 you've got licensed. Is that just how your team is using it, or is there something we could be doing better?
- Maarten BosmanOur customer success team is the main one running queries. It's working fine for what they need, they use it to cross-reference tickets against usage patterns. Couple of people in ops look at it here and there, but it's not high volume.
- Marcus BellThat makes sense. The value there is they're not reconciling systems by hand any more, yeah? That's the real win.
- Wouter BrouwerYeah. Saves them a day or two a week, I'd say.
- Lewis KerrGood. So let's get that order form to you. We'd send it tomorrow, and then Wouter, if you could get it back to us signed by 2 July, we're golden.
- Maarten BosmanI'll need to review the terms, but I'm happy to send it through finance. Any chance of any movement on price?
- Lewis KerrI appreciate the question. We discount the first term only, up to 20 per cent. Let me check if there's anything I can do there and come back to you. But the £22,000 is our starting point for Starter at renewal.
- Wouter BrouwerFair enough. Let's review and get back to you.
- Marcus BellPerfect. I'll send over a one-pager with the key dates and what's coming in the next few weeks. Lewis will get the order form over tomorrow. If you've got questions, just shout, happy to jump on another call.
- Maarten BosmanGreat, thanks both.
- Lewis KerrCheers. Speak soon.
