What this says
Current to 11 Oct 26Demo to Brenneck Pay's operations head, data engineering lead and a risk analyst on sample merchant data. The analyst found a merchant she had not looked at. Compliance wants data flow, access and EU evidence in writing.
What happened: Hannah Lowe showed a merchant page, chat questions, pages and the admin view on sample data Jonas Albrecht had loaded into a test schema. Aylin Kaya's question surfaced three merchants she already worried about and one she had not looked at.
Customer view: Katrin Vogelsang said the demo was more concrete than expected. Jonas wants logs of who asked what, and any schema change reviewed before production.
Commercial: Matteo Ricci restated £62,000 as the deal total, not an annual price. Katrin wants it split into one-off work and subscription, and the named connectors listed with days to go live.
Watch: Matteo will not commit connector dates until engineering agrees them. The 20 Jan 2026 order form target is, in Katrin's words, not a promise.

- The admin view of questions and flat-line alerts gives the customer a way to show adoption and value.
Transcript
- Matteo Ricci NoneGood morning, everyone. Can you all hear me properly? I can see Katrin and Jonas, and I think Aylin is just joining.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneGood morning, Matteo. Yes, clear on my side. Aylin is in the lobby, I have just let her in.
- Aylin Kaya NoneHello, sorry, my camera was fighting with the laptop. Good morning, all.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneMorning. Audio fine. Camera stays off, the VPN is not having a good day.
- Matteo Ricci NoneNo problem at all, Jonas. Grazie. Hannah is here as well, she will run the demo itself. Hannah, hello.
- Hannah Lowe NoneHello, everyone. Thanks for making time. Before I share anything, what do you most need to know by the end of this hour? I would rather aim the demo at that than walk you through every page.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneGood question. I sent a short agenda yesterday, I will read it quickly so we are aligned. One, how an account manager and merchant risk see the same merchant in one view. Two, what the brain does with our own data, not sample data. Three, where the data lives and who can access it. Four, next step and who owns it.
- Matteo Ricci NonePerfect, that is exactly what I hoped for. Just to restate the timeline as I understand it: this is the demo, then a proposal from us, and you would like to be in a position to decide by the end of the quarter, with the order form targeted for 20 January 2026. Is that still right?
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneYes, to be precise, 20 January 2026 is the target, not a promise. It depends on what our compliance team needs to see. Jonas, you have the most to say on that.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneCompliance will want it in writing. Where the data sits, which role has access, how the nightly load works. I have read your architecture note. I have questions.
- Hannah Lowe NoneGood, bring them. I will cover architecture in the second half, and where I am not certain I will say so and put the answer in writing afterwards. Let me share my screen first. Can you see it?
- Aylin Kaya NoneYes, I see a search box and a left-hand menu.
- Hannah Lowe NoneThat is the brain's home page. Everything you see here is built on the sample merchant data you let us load last week. Jonas, you loaded that in a test schema, correct?
- Jonas Albrecht NoneCorrect. Separate schema, read access only for the service role, and I checked the load history afterwards. Clean.
- Hannah Lowe NoneLovely. So let me start with Katrin's first point. I am going to open one merchant page. Aylin, pick a merchant name from your list and I will search for it.
- Aylin Kaya NoneTry the sports retailer, the one with the high chargeback ratio in the summer.
- Hannah Lowe NoneRight. So here is the merchant page. At the top you have the payment volumes from your processing tables. Below that, the tickets from the helpdesk, the account manager's notes from the CRM, and the emails that mention this merchant. The point is that it is one view, rather than four tabs.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneWhat is the source for the chargeback figure? I mean, which table does it come from? If I show this to an auditor, I need to say where it came from.
- Hannah Lowe NoneGood, and that is a feature rather than a nicety. Every number on this page has a source link. If I click the figure, it shows the table, the column and the time of the last refresh. The short answer is that nothing is shown without lineage. The longer answer is that it can only be as good as the table it reads.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneMm. That is helpful. Let us come back to the refresh time, because it matters for risk.
- Matteo Ricci NoneKatrin, I will note that. Nightly refresh, finished before the working day starts. Hannah will show you where that is visible.
- Hannah Lowe NoneRight here, top right, last refresh. If a source fails to load, the page says so rather than quietly showing old numbers.
- Aylin Kaya NoneCan I ask something in plain words? Today, if a merchant looks risky, I export from three systems and paste them into a spreadsheet. Would I ask the brain instead?
- Hannah Lowe NoneYes. Try it with me. Type a question in the chat, the way you would ask a colleague.
- Aylin Kaya NoneOkay. Which merchants have rising refund rates and an open ticket about settlement delays?
- Hannah Lowe NoneGive it a moment. It is reading across the tables and the helpdesk. There. A short list, and each row has the reasoning and the sources underneath.
- Aylin Kaya NoneOh. That is three merchants I already worry about, and one I had not looked at. I would have taken an hour to find that.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneThe fourth is interesting. Open it, please. I want to see whether the account manager knows about it.
- Hannah Lowe NoneOpening. The CRM note is from a few weeks ago and mentions a pricing conversation but not the settlement ticket. So this is a case where the two sides were not looking at the same thing.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneYes. That is precisely the problem I want solved. Risk sees one half, account management the other, and we argue about whose half is true.
- Matteo Ricci NoneLet me confirm that in writing afterwards, Katrin, because I think it should be the first line of the proposal. Merchants who stay, and risk and account management agreeing on a merchant.
- Katrin Vogelsang NonePlease. Good. Continue.
- Hannah Lowe NoneLet me show you pages next, because Growth also includes the dashboards builder. A page is a living summary that the brain keeps updated. I will create one for a merchant segment.
- Hannah Lowe NoneSo I choose the segment, add the sections, volumes, refunds, tickets, contacts, and then save it. Anyone with access can open it, and it refreshes every night with the rest.
- Aylin Kaya NoneCan I limit who sees the risk notes? Account managers should not see everything I write, at least not at first.
- Hannah Lowe NoneGood point, and that is a question for Jonas as well, because access follows the roles in your Snowflake account. To be precise, the brain does not invent its own permission model for your data. It inherits what the role can read.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneWhich role has access, then? Say it to me slowly. If I deny a table to a role, does the brain still answer from it?
- Hannah Lowe NoneNo. If the role cannot read the table, the answer cannot use it. Where I want to be careful is the cached summaries on pages. Those are generated by a service role and then shared with page viewers. So it is worth designing which pages are shared and with whom. I will put the exact behaviour in writing for you rather than describe it from memory.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneGood. That is a schema change I would want to review before anything goes near production. And not on a Friday.
- Hannah Lowe NoneAgreed on both counts. We would do the connector work in a test schema first, as you did for the sample.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneLet us talk about where the data lives. Our compliance team will ask this first. Matteo, you mentioned an EU region in the earlier call.
- Matteo Ricci NoneI did, and I would rather you heard it precisely from me. The brain runs inside your own Snowflake account, so the data stays where your account is. You already host it in an EU region. What we do not do is copy your data to a separate place of our own. Hannah, please correct me if I overstate it.
- Hannah Lowe NoneThat is right, Matteo. The short answer is that the data stays in your account and your region. The longer answer is that there are a few supporting services, such as the model that answers questions, and compliance will want to know exactly what text leaves the account to reach it. I do not want to guess there. I will check with our security colleague and send you a written answer.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneYes, please. In writing, with the date. Our regulator will ask where processing happens, and what is the source for the answer we give them?
- Matteo Ricci NoneWhat does your regulator need to see, exactly? If you tell me the form, we shape the document to it, rather than send you a generic one.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneA description of the data flow, a list of who can access what, and evidence that the data stays in the EU region. I will send the template compliance uses.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneAnd logs. If somebody asks the brain about a merchant, I want to know who asked and what it read.
- Hannah Lowe NoneThere is a record of questions and who asked them. I will show you that in the admin view now, because it is also how you see adoption.
- Hannah Lowe NoneSo, the admin page. Questions asked, by user, by week. Connectors and their status. Records indexed over time. If a source stops loading, you see the line go flat before anyone complains.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneFine. That I like. Flat line is a thing I can alert on.
- Aylin Kaya NoneHow many sources can we connect? We have the processing tables, the CRM, the helpdesk, and I think the shared mailbox. Is that too many?
- Matteo Ricci NoneGrowth includes more than that, Aylin. Four would sit comfortably inside it, with room for a couple more later. I will put the exact limits in the proposal so there is no ambiguity.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneLet us be careful here. Please make the proposal state the connectors we have named, and the days within which each is live. Otherwise somebody will say later that it was a verbal understanding.
- Matteo Ricci NoneUnderstood, and I agree. Though I will not commit a date for any connector until engineering has agreed it. Hannah will take the list to them this week and I will come back with their answer, not mine.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneGood. That is acceptable. A date with a note is better than a date without one.
- Aylin Kaya NoneCan I try one more question? Something harder. What changed for this merchant over the last month that could explain the increase in disputes?
- Hannah Lowe NonePlease do, and I will say in advance that this is the kind of question where it gives you a pointer, not a verdict. Type it in.
- Aylin Kaya NoneIt found a change in the settlement schedule and two tickets. It does not say why, though.
- Hannah Lowe NoneRight, and that is the honest limit. It shows you what changed and where to look. The judgement stays with you.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneI prefer that. If it pretended to know why, I would trust it less.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneRight. Practical question. How long does it take to get from here to live on our real data? I need to plan around the month end close.
- Matteo Ricci NoneFor Growth the implementation is a fixed fee and a fixed programme of weeks, and I would rather confirm it in the proposal than quote it from memory. What I can say now is the total for the deal is £62,000, and that is the deal total, not an annual price.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneUnderstood. Please break that down in the proposal. Which part is the one-off work and which part is the subscription. Finance will ask in the first minute.
- Matteo Ricci NoneOf course. Let me confirm that in writing, split clearly, with what is included in each.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneAnd who from your side owns the connector work? One name. Not a team.
- Hannah Lowe NoneThat would be me during implementation, and our customer success manager, Elena Novak, afterwards for adoption. I will put the names in the plan.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneGood. Let us agree the next step. Matteo, you send the proposal. Hannah, the written answers on data flow and access. Jonas and I send the compliance template. Aylin, would you write down five questions you would ask the brain on a normal Monday?
- Aylin Kaya NoneYes, I can do that. I will send them by the end of the week.
- Matteo Ricci NonePerfect. And I will keep the minutes of the actions and send them today, Katrin, since I know you would not forgive me otherwise.
- Katrin Vogelsang NoneCorrect, I would not. Thank you, everyone. This was useful, and more concrete than I expected.
- Jonas Albrecht NoneSame. I will send the template after I have checked it. Not before.
- Hannah Lowe NoneThanks, all. I will be in touch with the written answers. Speak soon.
- Matteo Ricci NoneGrazie mille. Have a good day, everyone. Best regards.
