What this says
Current to 11 Oct 26Renewal call with Marlstone Legal on 20 Feb 2026. The customer is happy with adoption and data quality and ready to renew on Growth. The first-year discount rolls off, and the size of the increase was not stated.
What happened: Daniel Okafor and Tom Ashdown took Emma Croft and Elliot Kirkby through the Growth renewal on the 20 Feb 2026 call. Both customer attendees were positive on adoption and data quality.
Customer view: Elliot said the data is fresh and nothing has needed escalating. Emma called it a good investment and said they are ready to go again.
Commercial: Tom said the first-year discount rolls off and Growth renews at £44,000 a year. Elliot asked how much the increase is and was told an invoice would confirm the exact number.
Watch: Tom called it the same terms, yet the price rises and the increase was never quantified. Daniel put users at the Growth limit of forty with about twelve regulars, so there is headroom.

Follow-up
Next steps
Current to 9 Oct 26- Tom Ashdown to send the renewal order form and invoice to Marlstone Legal by the end of that week.
- Emma Croft and Elliot Kirkby to sign a couple of weeks before the renewal date, and to say if they want any add-ons priced in.
Risks
Current to 9 Oct 26- The first-year discount ends at renewal and the customer asked about the increase without a figure for the rise being given.
- Tom described the renewal as the same terms while the price goes up, which could read as inconsistent when the invoice arrives.
Opportunities
Current to 9 Oct 26- Daniel offered add-ons for users, connectors or upgraded support, and Emma said the team would talk internally and come back.
Transcript
- Daniel Okafor NoneHi Emma, Elliot, thanks for joining. Tom and I wanted to touch base about your renewal coming up on 1 April.
- Emma Croft NoneHi Daniel, Tom. Yes, we're just about a month away. How's this typically work?
- Daniel Okafor NoneSo I'll walk through how you're getting on with the brain: usage, value, any feature requests, and Tom will cover the renewal terms and pricing.
- Daniel Okafor NoneFrom our side, it's been great to see adoption grow. You started with just a handful of active users back in April, and now you're running twelve or so per month on average. That tells me the team's finding value.
- Elliot Kirkby NoneYeah, the business-dev team is using it pretty regularly now. We've built a couple of custom dashboards for partner pipeline and matter status.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThat's exactly what we like to hear. And you've had no data issues or support hiccups?
- Elliot Kirkby NoneHonestly, it's been very smooth. The data is fresh, the system works, and we've not needed to escalate anything.
- Emma Croft NoneIt's been a good investment so far. I think we're ready to go again.
- Tom Ashdown NoneBrilliant. So you're coming up for renewal on 1 April. You're on Growth, which has been working well for you.
- Tom Ashdown NoneJust to be clear about the pricing: you got a discount on your first year because you signed at the start of the year. At renewal, you move to the standard Growth rate, which is forty-four thousand a year.
- Emma Croft NoneSo that's an increase from what we paid?
- Tom Ashdown NoneYes, it'll go up from what you've been paying. The first-year discount rolls off at renewal. But you're not locked in, if you want to talk about what makes sense, we can. If there's a case for an add-on or a different tier, we can look at that too.
- Elliot Kirkby NoneHow much is the increase?
- Tom Ashdown NoneThe list price for Growth is forty-four thousand, which is what you'd renew at. I can send you an invoice to confirm the exact number, but it's been a year with no surprises, good adoption, so I'm happy to discuss it.
- Emma Croft NoneOK. What about the service level? Does anything change?
- Daniel Okafor NoneNo, nothing changes. Quarterly check-ins with me, standard support, data refresh every night. If you ever want to upgrade support or add users or connectors, we can do that as an add-on.
- Elliot Kirkby NoneAre we maxed out on the user count?
- Daniel Okafor NoneYou're at forty, which is the limit on Growth. If you need more users, that's typically an add-on, ten at a time. But from what I'm seeing in the data, you've got maybe twelve regulars. You've got headroom for now.
- Emma Croft NoneOK, that's useful. So the renewal is just a resigning of the same terms, or does the whole thing change?
- Tom Ashdown NoneSame terms, same contract terms. MSA stays in place from last year, we just renew the order form under it. But I'll send you the renewal paperwork: order form, invoice, probably in the next week or so.
- Emma Croft NoneAnd when do you need signatures?
- Tom Ashdown NoneIdeally a couple of weeks before the end of March, so we've got time to make sure everything's in place for 1 April. But there's no rush, we'll work with you.
- Elliot Kirkby NoneThat's fair. We'll get it signed. Anything else we need to know?
- Daniel Okafor NoneJust to close the loop: if there's anything you want to add: more connectors, more users, extended support, let us know sooner rather than later so we can price that up and include it in the renewal.
- Emma Croft NoneWe'll talk internally and come back to you if there's anything.
- Tom Ashdown NonePerfect. I'll send the paperwork over by end of week. Thanks for sticking with us, cheers.
- Emma Croft NoneThanks, Tom.
- Elliot Kirkby NoneCheers.
