What this says
Current to 11 Oct 26Douglas Baird told Daniel Okafor on this call that the group is moving Lornefield onto its standard systems and he has signed the notice of non-renewal. He framed it as a group requirement, not a verdict on the brain, and left the door open.
What happened: Douglas said the group's position is that the contract with BB-Demo is not renewed, and that he has signed the notice. Daniel asked whether it was about value or the group standard.
Customer view: Douglas called it the group's requirement and said the trustees have been well served. He also said the people who drifted away did so well before this.
Commercial: The term ends on 2 Apr 2026. Daniel offered a written wind-down note, an explanation that the brain's data stays in the customer's own Snowflake account, and a documentation handover.
Watch: Douglas wants the person who administers the connectors to see the data explanation, and welcomes a conversation if the group's position changes. This is a possible win-back route.

Follow-up
Next steps
Current to 9 Oct 26- Daniel Okafor to send the written wind-down note by the end of the following week.

- Connectors could be disrupted by accident when systems move unless the connector administrator is briefed first.
Opportunities

- A careful wind-down and handover protects the relationship and the reference value of an early customer.
Transcript
- Daniel Okafor NoneGood afternoon, Douglas. Thank you for making the time. It's just the two of us today, I believe, so I'll keep it relaxed. How's your week been?
- Douglas Baird NoneGood afternoon, Daniel. Busy, I'll not deny it, but orderly. And thank you for keeping this to the two of us. I think it's the right way to have the conversation.
- Daniel Okafor NoneOf course. Before anything else, can I ask how your team is getting on with the brain at the moment? I'd rather hear it from you than guess from the dashboards.
- Douglas Baird NoneThey're using it, Daniel, though not as many of them as I'd like. The ones who rely on it for trustee preparation continue to do so, and they've said as much to me. In fairness, the people who've drifted away did so well before any of this.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThat matches what I see. About ten people active in a typical month, and the same few asking most of the questions. Nothing sudden, just a slow thinning. I'm glad you're being straight with me.
- Douglas Baird NoneThen let me be equally straight. I said I'd come back to you once I'd had the group's view. I have, and I'd rather tell you directly than have you hear it second-hand. The group's position is that Lornefield's arrangements are to move onto the group's standard systems, and so the contract with BB-Demo is not to be renewed. I've signed the notice of non-renewal.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThank you, Douglas. I appreciate you telling me yourself. May I ask, was that a decision about the brain's value, or was it a decision about the group's standard?
- Douglas Baird NoneIt was the group's requirement, and I'd not want it read as a judgement on what you've built for us. I'd say that on the record. The trustees have been well served. But the group decides the group's systems, and I'm not in a position to say otherwise.
- Daniel Okafor NoneI understand, and I won't try to argue it on a call. You've been with us since 3 Apr 2023, and Lornefield was one of the first, so I'd rather we finish this properly than quickly. Can I tell you what I'd propose?
- Douglas Baird NonePlease do.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThree things. First, a wind-down note from me, in writing, setting out what happens up to the end of the term, which is 2 Apr 2026. Second, a plain explanation of the data. The brain runs inside your own Snowflake account, so what's been built there stays with you. I'd want your colleague in IT to be clear on what that means before anyone switches anything off. Third, a handover of whatever documentation we hold, so nobody's left guessing.
- Douglas Baird NoneThat's very thorough, Daniel, and more than I'd expected. I'd welcome all three. On the data, I'd particularly want the person who administers the connectors to see it, so that nothing's disrupted by accident.
- Daniel Okafor NoneYes. I'll write it so that it can be forwarded as it stands. And if anything's unclear in the meantime, I'll pick up the phone. I'll come back to you by the end of next week with the note.
- Douglas Baird NoneThank you. One further thing, if I may. I'd not want the relationship to end with this. Should the group's position alter, or should circumstances change, I'd welcome a conversation.
- Daniel Okafor NoneI'd welcome that too, Douglas. The door's open on our side. I'd say that sincerely, not as a formality. And I'll make sure Nell knows what's been said today, so she hears it from me.
- Douglas Baird NoneI'd be obliged. Please pass on my thanks to her.
- Daniel Okafor NoneI will. So, to close the loop: you've told me the notice is signed, I'll send the wind-down note by the end of next week, and we leave things warmly. Is there anything else you need from me?
- Douglas Baird NoneNothing I can think of. Thank you, Daniel, for your courtesy throughout.
- Daniel Okafor NoneNot at all. Best wishes, Douglas. Take care.
