Current to 11 Oct 26Richard Thorne, Chief Operating Officer, says the Growth upgrade cannot go to the board before the year end because of a spend freeze. He has no complaint about the service and asks for an all-in cost note and no approach to Callum.
Ask: Richard Thorne told Priya Raman the upgrade cannot go to the board before the year end, because discretionary spend is frozen after the rate rises.
Customer view: he says this is timing, not the brain itself, and that Callum's team continue to use it. He asked for a one-paragraph note stating what the upgrade costs all in, for his own reference.
Next: he asked that Callum is not approached about the upgrade meanwhile. The thread does not show whether the freeze has lifted or what the upgrade would cost.

- Richard Thorne 17 Sep 2025 12:46Priya, I am writing to be direct about the upgrade we discussed. Following the rate rises, we have frozen discretionary spend across the business until the year end. I cannot take the upgrade to the board in that period. I would rather tell you now than leave you waiting. This is a question of timing and not of the brain itself. Callum's team continue to use it and I have no complaint about the service. Regards, Richard Thorne
- Priya Raman 17 Sep 2025 14:17Dear Richard, Thank you for letting me know so plainly - I appreciate it, and it makes planning much easier on our side. Understood on the freeze. To keep things simple, I will leave the upgrade where it is and not chase you on it before the year end. Your current Growth subscription carries on exactly as it is, and nothing in it changes. Two small things, so that nothing surprises you later: - Daniel will carry on looking after the day-to-day with Callum's team, so the service stays as it is. - When you are ready to look at it again after the year end, I am happy to make that easy - a short note from you is all it takes and I will bring a clean summary of the options. Would it help if I sent you a one-paragraph note now, setting out what the upgrade would and would not cost, so you have it for the board pack when the time comes? - Richard Thorne 19 Sep 2025 12:54Priya, Thank you. Yes, please send the paragraph. Keep it simple, and state what it costs us, all in. Please note that it is for my own reference. I will not be raising it with the board before the year end. The subscription continues as it is with the current users. The only thing I would ask is that you do not approach Callum about the upgrade in the meantime. He has enough on with the capacity providers. Regards, Richard Thorne
