What this says
Current to 10 Oct 26Usage is rising and sceptical underwriters have come round. Callum Reid wants proof of a reliable 07:00 refresh and a plain usage page for capacity providers. Daniel Okafor flagged the summer renewal; Callum says finance owns it.
What happened: Daniel Okafor and Callum Reid met alone for a pre-holiday check-in. Daniel showed the refresh history on screen and Callum confirmed every night was green.
Customer view: Underwriters who were sceptical in the summer now use the brain, and Callum says one question answered in ten minutes saved his team two days. He wants a plain page for the capacity providers, with where the data lives at the top.
Commercial: Daniel flagged that the contract ends in the summer, with a proper conversation in the spring. Callum said renewal is for finance but expects to make the case if usage holds.
Watch: Callum mentioned talk of a change to how broker contacts are logged, which could affect a connector. Some people are waiting for access within the 40 seats licensed.

Follow-up
Next steps
Current to 9 Oct 26- Callum to find out who adds the new users and tell Daniel, who will book twenty minutes to walk them through it.
- Daniel to send a one-page usage summary in the first week back in January, with data location at the top.
- Callum to send one example of a search people retype each week.
Risks
Current to 9 Oct 26- Callum says renewal is for finance, so the buyer was not on the call and has not been engaged.
- A possible change to how broker contacts are logged could disturb the CRM connector if B-Brain is not told first.
- Callum expects the brain to be right at 07:00 every morning and wants to hear of any problem before he does.
Opportunities
Current to 9 Oct 26- The one-page usage summary serves the capacity providers and gives Callum internal evidence for the renewal case.
- People asking for access can be added within the 40 Growth seats, which deepens adoption before the summer renewal.
- Saved searches against a binder is a small product request that Daniel can pass to the product team.
Transcript
- Daniel Okafor NoneMorning, Callum. Thank you for making the time, I know it's a busy week before everything shuts down. It's just the two of us today, I think, is that right?
- Callum Reid NoneJust us, yes. Morning, Daniel. Can you hear me all right? I've got the headset on, the room's echoing a bit.
- Daniel Okafor NoneLoud and clear. No echo at all on my side.
- Callum Reid NoneGood. Right. What I need out of this is simple. I want to know the brain is going to be right at 07:00 every morning when the market comes back in January, and I want to know what I can tell the capacity providers about how we're using it.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThat's a perfectly good agenda, and I think I can give you good news on both. Can I just start with how the team is finding it? Because from where I sit the usage has been moving the right way for a while now.
- Callum Reid NoneIt has. More than I expected, honestly. The underwriters were sceptical in the summer. You remember, there was a lot of 'I already know where my submissions are.' That's gone quiet.
- Daniel Okafor NoneI do remember. You said at the time it would take a bad week to convince them.
- Callum Reid NoneAnd we had one. A syndicate came back with a run of oversight questions on a couple of binders, and instead of my team spending two days pulling things together, one of the underwriters just asked the brain. Ten minutes. That did more than any of my emails.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThat's lovely to hear. Which questions was she, or he, asking? Just so I understand what's actually landing.
- Callum Reid NoneMostly where a submission sits, what's been said back to the broker, and which bordereaux queries are still open against a binder. Claims tickets alongside, so you can see if there's anything live that touches the same risk. That combination is the thing. It's what the capacity providers actually ask.
- Daniel Okafor NoneRight, and that's exactly why we pulled the CRM activity and the claims tickets into one view for you. Mm. So the active user numbers, I've got them here, they're up a good deal on the previous quarter. More people are logging in regularly, not just you and a couple of the senior underwriters.
- Callum Reid NoneThat matches what I see. By when do you think we'd hit all forty seats? Because I've got a couple of people asking for access who don't have it yet.
- Daniel Okafor NoneSo you're licensed for forty on Growth, and you're nowhere near that in terms of people actually active, so you've got plenty of room. If there are people who are asking, we can simply add them. It's an admin step on your side, and I can walk whoever does it through the process.
- Callum Reid NoneThat would be me, or one of the ops team. I'll check who.
- Daniel Okafor NoneFine. Just let me know and I'll put twenty minutes in the diary. It's not complicated, it's mostly knowing which groups see which dashboards.
- Callum Reid NoneWhich brings me to the thing I actually care about. The dashboards. The bordereaux one in particular. If that's not refreshed by 07:00, I've got people finding out at ten o'clock that they're looking at yesterday's numbers.
- Daniel Okafor NoneYes. And I'm happy to say there's been nothing there. No tickets in the last month, nothing high priority, nothing raised at all. The nightly refresh has been finishing ahead of 07:00 on business days. Shall I share my screen and show you the refresh history?
- Callum Reid NoneGo on. I'd like to see it, rather than take your word.
- Daniel Okafor NoneOf course. Give me a moment. Sorry, it's picking the wrong window. There. Can you see that?
- Callum Reid NoneI can see it. Hold on. Scroll back a bit. Yes. So that's every night, and it's all green.
- Daniel Okafor NoneAll of the connectors, yes. Your CRM, the claims ticketing, the mailbox and call sources, all loading, and the records indexed keep climbing, so it isn't sitting still. That's the other thing I look at, because a source can quietly stop loading and nobody notices for weeks.
- Callum Reid NoneGood. That's the sort of thing I'd get a phone call about from a capacity provider and look like an idiot.
- Daniel Okafor NoneWell, it's exactly what we try to catch before it reaches you. Just to close the loop on that, if anything changes on your side, say you move the claims system or change how the CRM is set up, tell me first and I'll make sure the connector follows.
- Callum Reid NoneNoted. Nothing planned. Well. There's talk of a change to how we log broker contacts, but it's talk. I'll tell you if it gets any further.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThat's all I'd ask. Thank you.
- Callum Reid NoneNow, the review with the capacity providers. That's in the new year. What I need is a page I can show them that says how we use this, who uses it, what they ask it. Not a sales deck. A plain page.
- Daniel Okafor NoneI can do that. I'd suggest we keep it very factual: the people using it, the kinds of questions asked, the sources behind it, and the fact that it runs in your own Snowflake account so the data doesn't go anywhere. I think that last part will matter more to them than anything.
- Callum Reid NoneThat's a capacity-provider question, yes. Where does the data live. Who can see it. Put that at the top.
- Daniel Okafor NoneAt the top. Understood. And I'll keep it to one page. Would it help if I came back to you with a draft before the break, or is that too tight?
- Callum Reid NoneBefore the break is too tight, everyone's gone by Friday. Early in January is fine. Say the first week back.
- Daniel Okafor NoneThe first week back it is. I'll come back to you by then with a draft and you can mark it up.
- Callum Reid NoneFine. Anything from your side? Anything I should be worried about?
- Daniel Okafor NoneHonestly, no. The only thing I'd gently flag is that the contract runs to the end of June, so renewal will come round in the summer. It's early, and there's nothing to decide now, I just like to say it out loud so it isn't a surprise. We'd have a proper conversation in the spring.
- Callum Reid NoneThat's not mine to talk about, that's for finance. But if the usage keeps going like this I won't have trouble making the case.
- Daniel Okafor NoneWhich is why the usage page is worth doing properly. It does both jobs. It works for the capacity providers, and it's your evidence internally.
- Callum Reid NoneFair. Good point.
- Daniel Okafor NoneIs there anything the underwriters have said they'd like it to do that it doesn't? Even small things. Annoyances.
- Callum Reid NoneOne. People want to save their favourite searches against a binder so they're not retyping the same thing. It's a minor thing. Not a blocker.
- Daniel Okafor NoneMm, I'll pass that on properly rather than just nod at it. If you can send me one example of what somebody retypes each week, that makes it much easier for the product team to see the shape of it.
- Callum Reid NoneI'll get you one. Next week.
- Daniel Okafor NonePerfect. So, just to run back through it. You'll find out who adds the new people and tell me, and I'll book the twenty minutes. I'll send a one-page usage summary in the first week back. And you'll send me the example of a repeated search.
- Callum Reid NoneThat's it. And you'll tell me if anything goes wrong with the refresh before I find out.
- Daniel Okafor NoneBefore you do, yes. That's my job.
- Callum Reid NoneGood. Right, I'm going to go. Have a good Christmas, Daniel.
- Daniel Okafor NoneAnd you, Callum. Enjoy the break, give my best to the team. Speak in the new year.
- Callum Reid NoneCheers. Callum, out.
